Hello to all.
Those new to the group, last year or so, this is a bit of a welcome back to me. I am one of the founding brokers for Finance & Coffee and have been in the industry since 2004.
My goal is to inspire all, especially new brokers, to become the best they can be as finance professionals, brokers, and human beings.
Going for a Gold Medal: A great goal and one that motivates every Olympian, it clear objective, we all know what it means to us. Each Olympian creates a strategy plan, map out actions. It could be over a year, 4 years some even start this goal as a young child. It can be 10's of years before they reach this goal.
What is your Gold Medal? Industry awards a nice, but this is not a competition who can write the best submission; your GOLD MEDAL must be something that means something to you. Simon Sinek is known for … "What is your WHY?" What will drive you to do what you need to do every day, rain, hail or sunshine? Even though those storms called totally inappropriate lender turnaround times.
Metaphorically map out your Plan: Start with the goal "Gold Medal" and work backwards. A step would be 'Make the Olympic Team:". So how do you make the team? My best guess is that you need to win a few meets, like world championships and national events … you need to Qualify or demonstrate that you can.
We work backwards; I will call this "Know your Sport" everyone will have a different journey; everyone has different abilities and requires a different approach … you need a trainer, coach and Mentor.
Training | Coaching | Mentoring: it's a universal process for success. It could be swimming, table tennis, ice hockey, a real estate agent, nurse, and you guessed it, even a mortgage broker. Understanding the support framework may help give you clarity.
A Trainer: they help with the basics, get you started, and learn a new task.
A coach: gets you to be your best, support and encourage you to push yourself, improve and help you do the tasks required to achieve your goals.
A mentor: give the best of themselves to guide & inspire you on your journey.
Can we be? Yes and no. Let's take the great Laurie Lawrence - google him if you don't know. He is one of Australia's most charismatic identities, especially in Swimming, also very passiona
